As we gear up for Phonetics 2025 Hong Kong this September, we’re excited to introduce one of our distinguished keynote speakers: Professor Janet Fletcher.
Professor Fletcher is Professor of Phonetics in the School of Languages and Linguistics, with a remarkable academic background that includes appointments at the University of Edinburgh, The Ohio State University, and Macquarie University. Her work has made a lasting impact across multiple areas of phonetic research.
Her research spans phonetic theory, prosodic phonology, and laboratory phonology, with a strong focus on articulatory and acoustic modelling of prosodic effects across a diverse range of languages. She is particularly noted for her contributions to the study of Indigenous Australian languages and French.
Professor Fletcher is also a member of the Research Unit for Indigenous Language and serves as a Chief Investigator at the University of Melbourne node of the Centre of Excellence “Dynamics of Language.”
We’re honoured to have her join us in Hong Kong and look forward to the insights she’ll be sharing with our global audience. Don’t miss the chance to learn from one of the leading voices in contemporary phonetic research.
