Linguistics 2026 Athens
Linguistics 2026 Athens brought together researchers from across the globe to present work spanning core, interdisciplinary, and applied linguistics. The conference highlighted ongoing developments in linguistic research, including the growing integration of computational methods and AI in language analysis and education.
The event was hosted at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, a leading institution with a long-standing academic tradition, providing a fitting setting for international collaboration and knowledge exchange.
The programme featured keynote lectures from:
- Ingo Plag – What is morphology? Theoretical linguistics meets computational modeling
- Jette Hansen Edwards – Social influences on pronunciation
- Nikos Sifakis – From deficiency to integration: English as a Lingua Franca, translanguaging, and linguistic theory reimagined
- Vaclav Brezina – How to Identify Multi-Word Expressions in Corpora?
We extend our sincere thanks to:

- Our keynote speakers for their valuable contributions
- The organising committee and session chair, Anna Sfakianaki
- Our moderators, Katie Pirsoaga and Millana Booysen
