The International Linguistic Society is announcing an important update to two upcoming conferences in our programme.
Following a review of our conference schedule, Lexical Morphology 2026 Online and Syntax 2026 Online will no longer take place as standalone online conferences on their originally scheduled dates.
Instead, both areas will become dedicated thematic sessions within larger International Linguistic Society hybrid conferences in 2027.
This change will allow us to bring together a broader international research community, provide greater opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange, and give research in morphology and syntax a stronger platform within our wider conference programme.
Lexical Morphology
Lexical Morphology 2026 Online, originally scheduled for 23–25 September 2026, will be rescheduled as the Morphology and Lexicon thematic session at:

International Conference on Linguistic Research and Applications

The conference will include dedicated thematic sessions in Pronunciation, Morphology and Lexicon, and Experimental Linguistics.
Syntax
Syntax 2026 Online, originally scheduled for 25–27 November 2026, will be rescheduled as the Syntax thematic session at:

22–24 September 2027
Berlin, Germany & Online
The conference will include dedicated thematic sessions in Syntax, Language Typology, and Translation Technologies.
What This Means for Participants
The research focus of both events remains an important part of the International Linguistic Society conference programme. By incorporating these areas into our larger hybrid conferences, participants will have the opportunity to engage not only with researchers working within their specialist field, but also with a wider international linguistics community.
Both conferences will offer onsite and online participation, maintaining accessibility for researchers who wish to participate remotely.
We will contact authors who have already submitted abstracts to the affected conferences directly with further information regarding their submissions and the rescheduled events.
